 I added a new picture that will demonstrate quite clearly how much Caleb's eye has opened in the course of the months. We can now see his eye.  Mr. Kelly has designed this shell with a hole in it at Caleb's pupil level to permit light to stimulate sight.  We are hopeful that is happening.  To accomplish this Mr. Kelly has to fill the shell with a type of white material (not sure what it is) that hardens and then he removes it to have an impression of Caleb's eye.  Needless to say, Caleb doesn't like that.

   It is hard for the shell to remain in place because Caleb's eye well is so small and needs to expand to hold a shell.  Mr. Kelly continues to work with us on about a monthly basis.  We will be traveling to Wills Eye on Tuesday to meet with Dr. Levine.  We are eager to see what he thinks since he's last seen Caleb in December.  He is in favor of pinning that eyelid up forever amen and we have said no to that.  It'll be interesting and I hope NOT painful to see his reaction now.  Prayers would be greatly appreciated.

March 13th

   Today we saw Dr. Levine....who took great credit for Caleb's eye progress.  Liz and I just smiled because it was truly God's doing and the fact that we did not do 

WHAT Dr. Levin suggested back in December which was to have the eyelid tacked permanently up to Caleb's eyebrow.  Instead, Dr. Levine  said he was VERY pleased with Caleb's eye progress and is now ready to begin patching the good eye so it forces the small eye to see.  I know this will be difficult for Caleb because he will have to begin using that eye to see everything while the good eye is patched.  Thankfully the patch is only to remain on for an hour or two daily.  We are also to see the eyelid specialist again to see what they can do about orienting Caleb's eye so it is more centered.  We're eager to find out from this specialist if the eye well can be deepened and the eye opened a bit more on Caleb's left side.  All in all today was a miraculous day!  Mr. Kelley the ocularist will be seen next Monday to broaden the hole in the shell as per Dr. Levine's orders.
